Step by step guide for a geo to download a configuration file from the HelpDesk and import data into their Player project.
The Player data importer uses configuration files that provide instructions to Player about how to import a dataset. Therefore, configuration files are specific to a dataset. Configuration files for commonly used datasets, such as S&P and WoodMac, have been created and are available for download. To import proprietary datasets contact Player support for help in creating a configuration file.
Datasets to be imported should be available and downloaded if necessary before carrying out the following workflow.
Download Configuration Files and Setup
- From the Player ribbon select the Import Wells, Pools, Prospects icon

- From the Import dialog select + Configuration Files / Help

- From the Configuration Help navigate to the appropriate dataset article. Select the configuration file link.

- The configuration file will be downloaded to the project folder and should now be selected in the Configuration drop-down

- From the Source Directory menu select the folder that holds the data to be imported. Select the Area of Interest to encompass the data you want to import (World, Current Map Extent or Project Library Area). Depending on the data type of the data being imported follow the appropriate next section.

Import Wells
Having selected the source data and Configuration (see Download Configuration Files and Setup section), import wells as follows:
- From the Discovery History select Add Wells. Select the ADD WELLS button to load the wells into Player

- Select Save edits

Import Pools/Fields
Having selected the source data and Configuration (see Download Configuration Files and Setup section), import pools/fields as follows:
- From the Discovery History select Add Pools/Fields. From the Match Criteria select Play Mapping and select one of the ticks on the right side. This will populate the table with the play definitions from the source data on the left and the Player plays on the right. The table defines how the plays will be mapped when the pools are loaded. Any definitions that are blank, or to change any definitions, right-click in the row on the Play column. Several rows can be defined at the same time by holding the Control or Shift keys when making selections and then choosing a Player play. Select the Add Pools button to load pools.

- Save from the Player ribbon

Importing Targets/Prospects
Having selected the source data and Configuration (see Download Configuration Files and Setup section), import targets/prospects as follows:
- From the Yet to Find select Add Targets/Prospects. From the Match Criteria select Play Mapping and select one of the ticks on the right side. Defining the plays from source data to Player plays is the same as with pools. When this is setup select Add Targets button to load prospects. Close dialog.

- Save from the Player ribbon
